Accelerating Progress on the UN SDGs

The Incitement social impact platform

Incitement is the world’s first and only social media-based CSR- and impact management platform, enabling businesses to channel resources to SDG-related priorities and causes, and creates more transparency, efficiency, and awareness around corporate giving through workflow digitisation and technology. The Incitement social impact platform is a hub for stakeholders contributing towards the sustainable development goals, and crowdsource solutions to strengthen the global SDG agenda.

We are here to support organizations that are committed to contributing toward the success of the global goals and the future of the the planet. On Incitement you will find tools, features, and actions you can use take to engage your organization and employees in raising awareness of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and transforming your business into a sustainable brand.

Since the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, momentum has significantly increased, however core metrics suggest that a fundamental step change is needed if we are to achieve them by 2030.

With 2020 around the corner we are about to enter the ‘Decade of Delivery’, and we need everyone – businesses, politicians, citizens, members of civil society and those in the financial services – to help ensure we deliver it, and create the world we want, leaving no one behind.

We believe that the private sector has a crucial role to play in facilitating this change. It’s estimated that the SDGs will create US $12 trillion in market opportunities, and create  380 million jobs worldwide.

Moreover, consumers want brands to do their part. Recent studies suggest a commitment to doing business responsibly is no longer considered a bonus, but rather an expectation by the vast majority of consumers, with sustaimnable brands having a significant competitive advantage over brands that don’t pledge their commitment to becoming more sustainable.

  • 90% of customers believe that brands should help solve social issues that matter to people.
  • 60% are more likely to buy from brands in line with their views.
  • 60% would pay more for a brand with strong sustainability credentials.

There is growing pressure for the business sector to take the lead in driving the evolution towards a newer, more sustainable form of capitalism; to end poverty, tackle rising inequality and to address climate change. And there is mounting evidence to suggest that those who act now and commit themselves to delivering the Global Goals, will be far better positioned to face economic challenges in the coming 10-20 years.

Pledge to the UN SDGs on Incitement

In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 goals for a better world by 2030. These goals have the power to end poverty, fight inequality and address the urgency of climate change. Guided by the goals, it is now up to all of us, governments, businesses, civil society and the general public to work together to build a better future for everyone.

What matters to consumers

And why it matters to your brand

Consumers  are calling for brands to have purpose – to have a voice in the issues that matter to them. With 90% saying that brands should get involved, it is now an expectation, not a bonus. In addition, recent studies by Kantar show that brands that align with the social issues that matter to their consumers are more likely to drive sales and build closer relationships with their target audiences.

In a world where more people trust businesses than governments, consumers want brands to proactively fight for what they believe in and to lead the charge on problems facing the world today.

But what role do people believe brands should play? The study revealed the top five requests from consumers:

  1. Educate consumers about the issue
  2. Initiate and fund programmes to support the issue
  3. Fund the organisations directly involved in the issue
  4. Run campaigns to raise awareness
  5. Change business practices to support the issue

After your have demonstrated your commitment to the SDGs by making a pledge on the Incitement platform, follow through on your commitment by taking tangible steps towards building a more sustainable organisation. By contributing to the global goals your organisation ensures the global goals are met.
