Incitement’s Privacy Policy

Effective June, 2019

Registered users (“Members”) share their personal identities, engage with their channel, exchange interests and insights, post and view relevant content, find volunteering, funding and CSR projects opportunities. Content and data on some of our Services is viewable to non-members (“Visitors”).

The term “Designated Countries” refers to countries in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland.

Incitement (“we” or “us”) may modify this Privacy Policy, and if we make material changes to it, we shall provide notice through our Services, or by other means, to provide you the opportunity to review the changes before they become effective. If you object to any changes, you may delete your user account and/or channel. The term “Incitement” includes but is not limited to the Incitement platform (www.theincitement.com), Incitement’s Projects, Incitement’s Events, and any other product or service which is provided by our company.

You acknowledge that your continued use of our Services after we publish or send a notice about our changes to this Privacy Policy means that the collection, use and sharing of your personal data is subject to the updated Privacy Policy.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide To Us

Registration

In order to create an account on Incitement, you are required to provide basic personal identifiable data including your name, email address and/or mobile number, and a password. If you register for a premium Service, you will need to provide payment (e.g., credit card) and billing information.

You may also be required to furnish additional information for identity verification purposes when launching a project, including your legal name, business name and official registration number for business entities, and date of birth. In some cases, our payment processor will request that you provide a secure upload of an identity document for verification purposes.

Profile

You may choose to provide the information on your profile, such as your education, work experience, skills, photo, city or area and endorsements. You don’t have to provide additional information on your profile; however, profile information helps you to get more from our Services, including helping causes/ brands/ volunteers find you. It’s your choice whether to include sensitive information on your profile and to make that sensitive information public. Please do not post or add personal data to your profile that you would not want to be publicly available.

Posting and Uploading

We collect personal data from you when you so choose to provide it, post or upload it to our Services, such as when you fill out a form, (e.g., background information, interest), respond to a survey, or submit a volunteering application. If you opt to import your address book, we receive your contacts (including contact information your service provider(s) or app automatically added to your address book when you communicated with addresses or numbers not already in your list).

If you choose to sync your contacts or calendars with our Services, we will collect your address book and calendar meeting information to keep growing your network and furnish you with volunteering opportunities by suggesting connections and area of volunteerism for you and others, and by providing information about them, e.g. times, places, attendees and contacts. You don’t have to post or upload personal data; though if you don’t, it may limit your ability to grow and engage with your network over our Services.

Communications with Incitement and/or partners

We may retain Communications you send to us (for example, when you ask for support, send us questions or comments, or report a problem)

1.2 Data From Others

Content and News

You and others may post content that includes information about you (as part of articles, posts, comments, videos) on our Services. Unless you opt-out through chnages in the pivacy setting of your page, we collect public information about you and make it available as part of our Services (e.g. suggestions for your profile, or notifications) Others may sync their contacts or calendar with our Services.

Contact and Calendar Information

We receive personal data (including contact information) about you when others import or sync their contacts or calendar with our Services, associate their contacts with Member profiles, or send messages using our Services (including invites or connection requests). If you or others opt-in to sync email accounts with our Services, we will also collect “email header” information that we can associate with Member profiles.

1.3 Service Use

We log usage data when you visit or otherwise use our Services, including our sites, app and platform technology (e.g., our off-site plugins), such as when you view or click on content (e.g., learning video) or ads (on or off our sites and apps), perform a search, install or update one of our mobile apps, share content etc. We use log-ins, cookies, device information and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses to identify you and log your use.

1.4 Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to recognize you and/or your device(s) on, off and across different Services and devices. You can control cookies through your browser settings and other tools. You may opt-out from our use of cookies and similar technologies that track your behavior on the sites of others for third party advertising. This may be done at the privacy setting page. 1.5 Your Device and Location

When you visit or leave our Services (including our plugins or cookies or similar technology on the sites of others), we receive the URL of both the site you came from and the one you go to next. We also get information about your IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and features, and/or ISP or your mobile carrier. If you use our Services from a mobile device, that device will send us data about your location based on your phone settings. We will request your permission before we use GPS or other tools to identify your precise location.

1.6 Other

We are improving our Services, which means we get new data and create new ways to use data. Our Services are dynamic, and we often introduce new features, which may require the collection of new information. If we collect materially different personal data or materially change how we use your data, we will notify you, and acquire your consent, and may also modify this Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use This Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes

  • 2.1 To keep your account secure and protect our Services (including to verify the identities of creators and prevent fraud and abuse);
  • 2.2 To enable us to provide you with our Services, and to improve and promote our Services;
  • 2.3 To create and administer your account, contact you, and customize your experience on Incitement (for example, to show you projects that we think may interest you based on your previous use); and
  • 2.4 To track and analyze use of the Services so that we can improve how Incitement is performing and provide users with the best experience possible.
  • 2.5 To help others find your profile, suggest projects and connections for you and others and enable you to invite others to become a Member and connect with you. You can also opt-in to allow us to use your precise location or proximity to others for certain tasks (e.g. to suggest other nearby Members for you to connect with, calculate the commute to a new job, or notify your connections that you are at a professional event).

3. How This Information Is Shared

3.1 Information that’s shared publicly

When you create an account, we create a basic profile page for you on Incitement, containing your username, the date the account was created, and a list of projects you have volunteered, have backed or created. By default, your profile is public and you can choose to make it private in your account settings. Your username appears with the comments you post and messages you send on Incitement and, if your profile is set to public, people can click your username to view it. If you choose to retain your profile as public, others will be able to see the following things:

  • a) The account username you select, and the date the account was created;
  • b) Any information you choose to add to your profile (like a picture, bio, or your location);
  • c) Projects you have volunteered, backed or created;
  • d) Comments you’ve posted on Incitement; and
  • e) If you have “Liked” a content.
  • f) Pictures and other public posts created

If you would like to have a public profile, but don’t want others to see your name or profile image on a project’s Community tab, you may :e Lchoose an account image or name that is not identifiable. You can modify or delete certain information associated with your account (such as your username, profile image, biography and location) from your account settings, and you can change your privacy settings if you want to make your profile private or adjust the default settings.

Volunteers, causes and brands are asked to verify their identities before volunteering in, creating or backing a project. Once this has been done, the Verified Name will be publicly displayed on their account profile and on any projects they create.

4. Advertisement

We target (and measure the performance of) ads to Members, Visitors and others both on and off our Services directly or through a variety of partners, using the following data, whether separately or combined:

  • 4.1 Data from advertising technologies on and off our Services
  • 4.2 Member-provided information (e.g., profile, contact information, title and industry);
  • 4.3 Data from your use of our Services (e.g., search history, feed, content you read, who you follow or is following you, connections, groups participation, page visits, videos you watch, clicking on an ad, etc.)
  • 4.4 Information from advertising partners and publishers [Learn More]; and
  • 4.5 Information inferred from data described above

We will show you ads called sponsored content which look similar to non-sponsored content, except that they are labeled “ads” or “sponsored.” If you take an action (such as like, comment or share) on these ads, your action is associated with your name and viewable by others, including the advertiser. Subject to your settings, if you take a social action on Incitement, that action may be mentioned with related ads.

5. Information that’s shared with trusted third-party services

We may share your information with certain trusted third-party services to help us provide, improve, promote, or protect Incitement’s Services (like when we partner with payment processors, or use services that help us manage our ads on other sites). When we share data with third-party services that support our delivery of the Incitement Services, we require that they use your information only for the purposes we’ve authorized, and that they protect your personal information at least to the same standards we do. We may also share information that’s aggregated and anonymized in a way that it doesn’t directly identify you. No personal identifiable information, such as name, ID or registration number, emails etc will be shared with any third party services.

6. Information that’s shared to comply with the law

We do reserve the right to disclose personal information when we believe that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or law enforcement, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect Incitement’s legal rights, property, or the safety of Incitement, its employees, users, or others.

7. Links to other websites and services

Our Site may include links to other websites or services whose privacy practices may differ from Incitement. When you use a link to an external site or service, the privacy policy and data processing disclosures for that site or service governs.

8. Retention

We will retain your information as long as your account is active, as necessary to provide you with the Services or as otherwise set forth in this Policy. We will also retain and use this information as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy and to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements and protect Incitement’s legal rights.

We also collect and maintain aggregated, anonymized or pseudonymized information which we may retain indefinitely to protect the safety and security of our Site, improve our Services or comply with legal obligations.

9. Account Closure

If you choose to close your Incitement account, your personal data will generally stop being visible to others on our Services within 24 hours. We delete closed account information within 30 days of account closure, except as noted below.

We retain your personal data even after you have closed your account if reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations (including law enforcement requests), meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our User Agreement, or fulfill your request to “unsubscribe” from further messages from us.

Information you have shared with others (e.g., through Project Conversations, Channel Conversations, Messaging, updates or group posts) will remain visible after you closed your account or deleted the information from your own profile or mailbox, and we do not control data that other Members copied out of our Services. Groups content and ratings or review content associated with closed accounts will show an unknown user as the source. Your profile may continue to be displayed in the services of others (e.g., search engine results) until they refresh their cache.

10. Your Rights

Users residing in certain countries, including the EU, are afforded certain rights regarding their personal information. Except where an exception or exemption applies, these rights include the ability to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. While these rights are not applicable globally, all Incitement users can manage their personal information, as further described below, in their account settings.

You can request a downloadable copy of your personal data from Incitement by emailing us. To modify or delete the information you provided, you can also request this via email. You may also delete your account from your account settings page. We may retain certain information as required by law or as necessary for our legitimate business purposes.
